September 2014
A beautiful weekend on the lake, trolling up some fine brook trout and landlocked salmon. 8 of us, had a great time as usual. I caught several on the hornberg I tied at the Sept. meeting, as well as some grey ghost streamers.
My largest was this 15" brookie
and an 18" salmon seen below.![](../Images/2014/Russ4.jpg)
Trout/Salmon trip was at Bosebuck Camps, Arizcohos Lake in NW Maine. It's a man-made lake with it's Northern shores fed by the upper Magalloway River.
Trolling is the method of choice, with flies, on sinking or sink-tip lines. Some use hardware such as Mooselook Wobbler (Like a pheobe spoon). I had most luck with long shank streamers, Grey Ghost, Hornberg, Green Ghost or Smelt (purple) patterns.
Some years, we go above the logging gate, to fish the Magalloway River itself, but this year the water levels were way down. The river fishing is nice 'cause you can mend, cast or strip in streamers and/or nymphs.
End of the season is Oct 1, so we usually go at the end of September. My 15" Brookie, first fish I've kept from there in a decade - was delicious for Sunday dinner upon the return home.

A tired Russ shows that what happens in Maine does not always stay in Maine!
